Wildflower Meadows
A garden rich in wildflowers and native grasses gifts a magical shifting palette of colours from early spring through to the last amber days of summer. They will also seduce precious pollinators such as butterflies and bees. They are key to creating a bio-diverse environment offering maximum benefit to wildlife.
Wildflower meadows may invoke images of rolling countryside but in fact they do not need acres of land. Small or even micro meadows can usher in the butterflies and require only a small sunny border or patch of land.
Whilst not demanding a vast landscape, wildflower meadows do require careful cultivation to establish and perseverance in combating vigorous grasses and weeds.
The current decline in natural wildflower meadows has urges us to advocate their cultivation in many of our gardens. Conceptually not restricted to traditional meadows our gardens have featured wildflower amphitheatres, spiral mazes and swimming pool ‘dunes’.
Wildflower meadows whether large or micro can be established from seed or for instant impact using wildflower turf. We are accredited installers of the Wildflower Turf Company – creators of the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony pastoral meadow and park.
