Boxgrove

As wildlife enthusiasts, our clients wanted a garden full of native plants and different areas that catered to a variety of species. A pond was at the centre of this design, along with winding paths that meandered round the much-loved existing trees. Mark designed a linear pond, reflecting the modern architecture of the home’s extension, with beached edges for the wildlife, and seating areas that create a sense of connection with the water.

The planting was designed to encourage native wildlife, pollinators and to provide an all year round seasonal display. With Verbena providing pom pom purple flowers, contrasting beautifully with the vibrant Geum 'Totally Tangerine' and Geranium 'Rozanne' that just goes on and on there is a real English garden feel to this scheme.

The step stone are interplanted with babies tears, creeping thyme and Erigeron along with other scented creeping plants. We can't wait to see this planting establish and grow over the next few years - watch this space to see how it does! We are due to plant the bulbs Autumn 2024 and this will add a whole new dynamic.

The pond stretches across the centre of the garden, providing stunning views from the house, with step stones across to incorporate the water in the journey of exploring the garden. Paved seating areas sit at either end of the pond, creating viewing spots that offer fresh and alternative views from those seen from the house..
